ADVENTURE FOR A DAY AT MT. LONGONOT NATIONAL PARK

Ever thought of an adventurous excursion around Nairobi…

Many are the times as families or even group; you have ever wondered where you can have a sport like excursion in a playful mood. Sporting is not only taking a ball and rolling it in the field. There are different ways of sporting. Hiking, rocking climbing, trekking are some of active participation and vigorous sport activities.
Mt Longonot National Park offers an ideal scenic and adventurous environment for such.  The good thing is that it’s very much accessible from Nairobi, about 90 km drive. That means an early morning drive to the park will offer you an ample time to have the day’s excursion. The sweating and tiptoeing as you hike to the top and the rim of the crater is worthy it for a body exercise especially for those who spend their time busy through out the week in the office seats.

Let’s now turn the page and speak about the beauty our eyes always crave for. When you are at the mountain, you can have a magnificent scenic view of the Great Rift Valley and Lake Naivasha.  The V-shaped valleys and ridges on the sides of the Mountain are so catchy and can’t go unnoticed.
I have heard people say its so boring to visit a park and wave good bye at it without spotting even a hare at a far glance. It’s funny though; Mt. Longonot will crown you with a view of gazelles, buffaloes, impalas and giraffes that will radiate the whole experience.
It is good as you prepare to embark on the journey to the Sheer adventure that you pack with you drinking water, cameras, binoculars, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and for routing purposes carry with you a guide book.
